Getting here

By road

When driving from Trondheim, follow the E39 to Orkanger. From Orkanger, follow Rv714 all the way to Hitra. Rv714 passes across Hitra and on to Frøya.

The Hitra tunnel, which links the island of Hitra to the mainland, is 260 metres deep and one of Europe’s deepest tunnels. Another tunnel links Hitra and Frøya.

By boat

An express boat from Trondheim or Kristiansund calls at Fosen and Sandstad at Hitra three times a day and corresponds with a bus to Frøya. The ferry trip from Trondheim takes approximately one hour to Brekstad and two hours to Sandstad.

By plane

There are several daily flights between Ørland Airport and Oslo Airport. Frøya also has an airport for light aircrafts.

Trondheim Airport is the closest major airport and is located 45 kilometres from Fosen and 150 kilometres from Hitra.
