Frøya is surrounded by more than 5,400 islets and skerries. Øyrekka, the island chain, stretches from Kya in the south to Halten in the north, with living fishing villages, protected bird islands and five lighthouses along the way.

Frøya

From Kya in the south to Halten in the north - more than 5,400 islets and skerries off the Trøndelag coast.

Bogøya

A car-free fishing village in Øyrekka off Frøya – with 15 permanent residents, a guest harbour, Supen Pøbb, a historic trading house and accommodation.

Sula, Frøya

A natural gem facing the open sea - dense wooden houses, around 50 permanent residents and a lively summer season.

Mausund

Frøya's largest fishing village - around 200 inhabitants, two places to eat and the «Ut i havet» festival that fills the island every summer.

Halten

The outermost bare island - a protected, uninhabited fishing village at the northern end of Øyrekka, once the largest on the Trøndelag coast.

Sauøya, Sørburøya and Gjæsingen

Three gems in Norway's largest marine protected area - living island communities, Froan chapel and wildlife you have to see to believe.

Titran

Frøya's westernmost fishing village - wartime remains, the Titran disaster of 1899 and Sletringen lighthouse just offshore.

Kya: the millennium site in the open sea

Frøya's millennium site - a historic fishing village in the open sea south-west of Sula, with almost 500 years of coastal history.

Lighthouses

Five lighthouses along Frøya's chain of lights.

Sula lighthouse

A protected coastal lighthouse at the outer edge of the Frøya archipelago - with history back to 1793 and accommodation in the old keeper's house.

Vingleia lighthouse

A protected leading light north of Mausund - with history from 1921 and the chance to stay overnight in late summer.

Finnvær lighthouse

A weather-beaten outpost in Frohavet - built in 1912 to guide seafarers safely between the low islands of Froan.

Sletringen lighthouse

Norway's tallest lighthouse - raised against the open sea to guide seafarers safely in towards Titran.
